Dear Family,

My name is Lucía Torres, I am 17 years old, and I live in Málaga, Spain, a beautiful and vibrant city on the coast. I am writing to you today with great enthusiasm and hope to be your next au pair.

I am an extremely responsible, empathetic, and caring person, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I would love to be a positive influence in their lives, sharing fun, creative, and educational moments, and acting as a kind older sister. I have extensive experience caring for children, as I regularly look after my younger brother and have worked as a babysitter for several families. These experiences have taught me a great deal about patience, empathy, and the importance of creating a safe and loving environment. I also adore animals and have a small kitten named Blue, who is a beloved member of our family.

I am very dedicated to my studies and personal growth. I firmly believe that anything can be achieved through discipline, hard work, and passion. This philosophy has guided me in all aspects of my life. Academically, I have always strived for excellence, and I am proud to be at the top of my class and my debate club. My hard work has also led me to win several prestigious economics and entrepreneurship competitions, such as Europass and the MBA League.

Beyond academics, I have a passion for a wide range of creative and sports activities. I play the violin, love listening to classical music, English pop and jazz, and enjoy reading literature, dancing flamenco and poetry. I also love to paint and visit museums; my visit to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, where I was completely captivated by Monet’s collection, remains one of my favorite memories. To stay active, I go to the gym regularly, run, scuba dive, and play sports like basketball and padel. I am also very passionate about cooking and would be delighted to prepare traditional Spanish dishes for your family. I am always happy to help around the house with any tasks if needed.

I have always been fascinated by languages and the cultures they represent. I believe that learning a new language is the best way to open your mind and truly understand another perspective. I speak Spanish as my native language, English at a C1 advanced level, conversational German, and basic Italian. Last year, I had the rewarding experience of tutoring a young girl in English, helping her with her classes.

In my family, communication and support are very important. I’m the middle child; my older sister is a medical student, and I have always looked after my little brother. My mother works as a tax advisor and my father is a financial director and lawyer, so I grew up in an environment that highly values discipline and dedication. This background has taught me the importance of responsibility and hard work. As part of my school’s debate team, I learned how to express my ideas clearly and listen to different points of view. I love exploring new subjects, from philosophy and mathematics to physics and science, and I’m eager to share my love of learning with your children.

Helping others is very important to me as well. I volunteer with a local NGO, where I am part of a youth group that organizes activities and campaigns for children in vulnerable situations. This experience has taught me a lot about empathy, patience, and the importance of enjoying every moment with others.

Next year, I will begin my university studies, pursuing a double degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Before that, I want to have a unique experience away from home to grow as a person and share special moments with a new family. I am confident that being your au pair would be a wonderful opportunity for us to create unforgettable memories together!
