I used to take care of my neighbor's children occasionally, as my first job, I played with them and cooked their lunch. In the gym in which I train martial arts, I help my teacher with Leonardo, a 4-year-old teammate, and I train with him. Finally, there was a period of time in which my mother-in-law asked me to take care of her little son, Owen. I used to take care of him from 11 to 3 Pm, helped him with the homework, played in the park with him, and taught him English.

Dear Host Family,

I hope you are doing great! My name is Samuel Muñoz, I’m 20 years old, I live in Colombia, and I speak Spanish, English, and I’m learning Portuguese.

I am such a responsible, respectful and warm person. I love sports, I practice soccer, martial arts and basketball, but I also love swimming. Added to that, some of my hobbies are cooking, and I know how to cook several recipes from my mom and grandma. One of my passions is learning languages, I speak Spanish (my mother language), English and I’m learning Portuguese. The easiest way I found to learn languages was through music. I love learning new songs on my guitar, so I started playing music in Portuguese and English, and that’s how I learnt those languages.

I have always thought sharing spaces and knowledge with children is like planting a seed that will grow into a big and strong tree. In fact, children are the ones who sometimes teach us important lessons; their purity and nobility are some of the most amazing things in the world.

I have a lot of knowledge and experiences to share not only with a child but with an entire host family, leaving apart my admiration for Chinese culture, my curiosity for Asian gastronomy and my dream of travelling to Chineseturistic places, I’d love to meet the Chinese culture in the closest way possible, and having an advanced Chinese level is a personal goal for me.

I consider myself a good teacher, but I’m certainly a better learner. I expect being an Au pair to be one of the most wonderful experiences I’ll ever live and leave a lovely memory to my host family as well, so they can bring a little piece of Colombia wherever they go.
