Dear future host family,

My name is Hana, I am 23 years old and I come from Slavonski Brod, Croatia. I am currently finishing my Social Work studies in Zagreb. I grew up in a warm family with my parents and two younger brothers, and I would describe myself as friendly, calm, responsible, and very open-minded.

I applied for this Au Pair program because I truly enjoy spending time with children and supporting their development. I also love learning about new cultures, and China has always fascinated me with its history, traditions, and values. I believe this experience will help me grow personally and professionally, and allow me to share a part of my culture while discovering yours.

I helped raise my two younger brothers, so caring for children has always been a natural part of my everyday life. I was included in their care from the time they were babies, and as they grew older, my responsibilities changed into helping with homework, studying for school, preparing meals, organizing playtime, and supporting them through their daily routines.

I also often help my close friend with her baby girl, who is now 10 months old. I visit them, help with daily routines such as feeding, taking walks, and playing, which has given me even more confidence and comfort in caring for very young children.

Through my university studies in Social Work, I gained a lot of practical experience working directly with children. During the past four years, I participated in many workshops and group activities with younger children - mostly preschool and early elementary school age.

One of the most meaningful experiences for me was my field practice. Colleagues and I worked with a small group of children (up to 5 kids) several times a week. These were children without adequate parental care, and our role was to support the educators by spending time with the kids - playing with them, creating activities, helping them with homework and tasks and keeping them engaged and safe. We often prepared games, creative tasks, reading activities, or outdoor play.

I volunteered in a children’s home, where I worked with children who needed extra care and attention. I helped them with learning, supervised outdoor activities, played games, drew... This experience strengthened my empathy, understanding and ability to connect with children who have different backgrounds and emotional needs.

All these experiences taught me patience, responsibility and the ability to adapt to different children’s needs while creating a safe, warm, and fun environment.

I would say that living with me is easy :). I am organized, reliable, respectful, and always willing to help. I understand family routines, responsibilities, and the importance of clear communication. I enjoy spending time together, but I also respect personal space and boundaries.
